Through focused work sessions with Kappa Alpha Theta leadership, RLR identified key areas within the Theta headquarters suited for storytelling and thematic graphics, as well as the narratives and themes to be conveyed. In the main lobby, a reverant portrait display honors the four founders, warmly introducing visitors to the pioneering women whose leadership transformed the collegiate experience for women in the late 1800s.
Kappa Alpha Theta’s expansion and legacy are illustrated through a dimensional chapter map, which serves as a powerful reminder of the fraternity’s influence and fosters member connection. This map highlights active collegiate chapters, alumnae groups, and former chapters across the U.S. and Canada, with removable dots enabling staff to update chapter information as needed.
The Kappa Alpha Theta Heritage Museum houses the primary exhibit experience, exploring the history of collegiate Greek-letter societies and the advancement of women in higher education from both a broad and Theta-centered perspective. Themes related to Greek life and the women’s movement come to life through visual storytelling, artifact displays, and static interactives designed to engage visitors with Theta’s rich history.
A feature of the Museum includes a look at significant fashion trends among Theta members on college campuses over time, offering insight into the evolving nature of campus life. Layered panels, suspended just above the floor to create a “floating” effect, incorporate large-scale photography, vibrant colors, and fabric-inspired patterns, adding depth and energy to the space.

The Fraternity and Sorority Timeline is a data visualization capturing the growth of Greek-letter collegiate societies throughout the U.S. and Canada. This timeline chronicles the founding years of each Greek-letter organization and highlights notable organizations, while also incorporating key social and political movements to illustrate their influence on the development of these societies. Collaborating with Kappa Alpha Theta historians, our team integrated these historical milestones to provide context for the growth of Greek life.
To foster a personal connection, the timeline includes a dry erase board where Museum visitors can contribute to this legacy by adding their name, organization, and initiation year. Whether they are alumnae, current members, or have a Greek-affiliated family member, visitors are invited to leave their mark in the ongoing story of Greek societies.
